A biobed and a biological air scrubber do not only produce large amounts of waste water, their operation is often inhibited by the presence of nitrite. That is why we at CBgroep have developed the ‘Draineater’. This system selectively removes nitrite improving the efficiency of your air scrubber and, in addition, the Draineater reduces the waste water by no less than 90%.

Increased removal efficiency

In addition to the direct effect on the operation of the biological air scrubber, the Draineater also indirectly ensures an increased removal efficiency of ammonia, among other things. Before this reducing technique could be applied to an agricultural company, CBgroep built several pilot plants over the past years together with Prof. W. Verstraete and his company AVECOM from Ghent.

These pilot plants have taught us that the Draineater:

improves the performance of the biological air scrubber and biobed;
increases the removal efficiency of ammonia out of the stable air;
reduces the volume of waste water and discharged nutrients.
